Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Commitment
Wowli is built with a privacy-first architecture. Your meeting audio never leaves your Mac. We do not record, store, or transmit audio to any server — including our own.
What Stays on Your Mac
- Audio capture — System audio and microphone input are processed locally in real time using WhisperKit (on-device transcription). Audio is never saved as files.
- Transcripts — All meeting transcripts are stored locally in your home directory.
- Insight cards — AI-generated insight cards are stored locally with your session data.
- Screenshots — Captured screenshots remain on your Mac and are never uploaded.
- Knowledge base — Your local context files (client history, project docs, meeting notes) are read locally and never transmitted to Wowli.
- Session history — All session data persists locally at
~/Documents/Wowli/sessions/.
What Leaves Your Mac
- AI API calls to your AWS account — Text-based prompts (transcript excerpts, knowledge base context, and insight generation requests) are sent to Amazon Bedrock via your own AWS credentials. These calls go directly from your Mac to AWS — Wowli has no intermediary server.
- License validation — When the app starts, a lightweight API call checks your license status. This includes your license key (if activated), a machine identifier, and the app version. No meeting data, transcripts, or personal content is included.
Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC)
Wowli uses a BYOC model — you connect your own AWS account. This means:
- Your AWS credentials are stored locally in
~/.aws/credentials(standard AWS CLI configuration). - AI model usage is billed directly to your AWS account.
- You choose which AI models to use and in which AWS region.
- Wowli never has access to your AWS credentials — the AWS SDK handles authentication locally.
Data We Collect
Wowli collects minimal data for license management only:
- License key — Stored in your macOS Keychain (encrypted by the OS).
- Machine identifier — A hardware UUID used to bind licenses to devices.
- App version — Sent during license validation for compatibility checks.
We do not collect analytics, telemetry, usage patterns, meeting content, or any personal information beyond what is listed above.
Third-Party Services
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Bedrock AI services, accessed via your own account. Governed by the AWS Privacy Policy.
- Stripe — Payment processing for license purchases (when applicable). Governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
macOS Permissions
Wowli requests the following macOS permissions:
- Microphone — To capture your voice during meetings for local transcription.
- Screen Recording — To capture system audio from your meeting application.
- Accessibility — To display the always-on-top HUD overlay.
These permissions are managed by macOS and can be revoked at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
Data Retention
All meeting data (transcripts, insight cards, session history) is stored locally on your Mac. You can delete any session at any time from within the app or by removing files from ~/Documents/Wowli/sessions/.
Uninstalling Wowli removes the application. To remove all data, also delete the ~/Documents/Wowli/ directory and the Wowli entries in your macOS Keychain.
Children's Privacy
Wowli is not designed for or directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
